Alejandro Luna is a drummer, bassist, educator, and producer.
Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Alejandro has excelled among his peers with his subtle but intricately melodic approach to jazz improvisation. He holds degrees in Jazz Performance from the Fernando Sor Music School in his hometown; the City College of New York (B.M.), and an M.M. at William Paterson University on a full academic scholarship. He also graduated with honors from the Independent Music Production program at Seneca College in Toronto, Canada. His undying love for music has taken him from Colombia to Canada to New York City. It has awarded him the opportunity to share the stage with world-class musicians like Al Foster, Will Vinson, Pat LaBarbera, Steve LaSpina, Benito Gonzalez, Steve Wilson, Marco Panascia, and Jonathan Kreisberg, among many others.
Alejandro has been fortunate to perform in festivals and venues such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, TD Toronto Jazz Fest, Aaron Davis Hall, Mezzrow Jazz Club, Cornelia Street Café, Zinc Bar, Shapeshifter Lab, Dizzy’s Club, ColombiaModa, and many more.
